FAQ

Q: Is InterVarsity a sports club?
A: Despite our name, InterVarsity is not a sports club. It is an evangelical campus mission, serving more than 32,000 students and faculty on more than 550 college and university campuses nationwide. The name “Intervarsity” comes from Inter-Varsity, which means “across Universities.”

Q: What do you do?
A: Our fellowship provides students with a variety of activities, ranging from leadership opportunities to prayer meetings to summer missions projects. The best ways to start getting involved would be to join a small groupand attend our weekly large group meetings.

Q: Is InterVarsity connected with any church?
A: No. InterVarsity is an interdenominational organization. Students in our ministry are involved in a variety of churches of different denominations. But we partner with churches in campus ministry and equip students, faculty and staff to be lifelong active members in local congregations.

Q: What’s the difference between Intervarsity and Cal Christian Fellowship (CCF)?
A: CCF is only a part of the Intervarsity family at Cal. It is the multiethnic branch of InterVarsity, partnering with its sister ministries: Black Campus Ministries, LaFe, and Kapwa. For more info on the Intervarsity family, click here.

Q: What makes Cal Christian Fellowship different from other fellowships?
A: Just as the body has many parts, so too does the Christian community at Cal. While some students have noted CCF’s values for justice, culture and ethnicity, creative expression, and campus engagement, we encourage you to check it out for yourself! We hope that every Christian will find a community on the Cal campus that will help them grow and be challenged during college.
